Help on Android Auto enabling

I have a February 2018 Giulia (Europe). I understood that in order to enable Android Auto I need to: proxy alignment Change usb port Update firmware with witech2 and activate in ETM Carplay option I’ve seen that my original usb port has no chip on the pcb, then my question is: is it really necessary to change usb port?
