Help on Android Auto enabling

I have a February 2018 Giulia (Europe).
I understood that in order to enable Android Auto I need to:

  • proxy alignment
  • Change usb port
  • Update firmware with witech2 and activate in ETM Carplay option

I’ve seen that my original usb port has no chip on the pcb, then my question is: is it really necessary to change usb port? What does it changes in it? Is it there a way to upgrade (by modding) my original usb port?

P.S.: These are acquired details on bytes to change in proxy as I understood:
-byte 115 must be 0x15 (dual usb port with aux), or 0x14 (single usb port)
-byte 157 shall have last bit to 1 (in example 0x30 shall become 0x31
(Enables mirroring function)
-byte 161 shall be 0x03
-byte 163 shall be 0x02 (but on giuliaforums it is written 0x1A, probably with no effect on Giulia)
-byte 174 shall be 0x00 ( but on giuliaforum it is written 0x02 even if no source confirms it)

I did this successfully on my 2017. I suppose I could try putting in my old USB to see if the system still functions.

It could be really interesting to understand the differences on the pcb

Yes if you could do it, by also taking high resolution picture of the pcb it could be helpful to understand
